Know any pregnant women? Here is a way to bless them with a “pregnancy survival” gift pack! The conception for this idea (har har) came from my sweet friend Monica, who gave me a “preggo pack” when I was pregnant with Anna. I was so delighted to receive this! She included a sweet note and picture, [...]

I realized last week that I had failed to let everyone know that — surprise! — I am going to be an aunt, again! My sweet, sweet sister Mandy and her husband are expecting their second child, due sometime in mid-February. In fact, in a little over three weeks, they find out the gender of the [...]

Thankful

In an attempt to process all of this, I made a list of things I can be thankful for through this whole experience…

I am thankful that the doctors discovered the ectopic pregnancy in time before it became truly life-threatening.
I am thankful for anesthesia!!
I am so, so thankful for all the people who have prayed for [...]

Update

Rust and I are back home now. I was released from the hospital last night, about three hours after the surgery.
I am still a little fuzzy with the details, as Rust did all the communicating with my doctor who performed the surgery. But I know the pregnancy was ectopic (tubal…outside the uterus), and my left [...]

I am a resource hoarder. I love, love, love reading, and researching, and sharing information with others! I have been meaning to throw out some books (and links!) that encouraged me during my pregnancy. For those who might find themselves in a similar season of life, I hope these might be of use to you!

Anna update–

No baby yet, though everyday Rust says, “Now Anna… where are you?” Tomorrow is my due date (looks like the midwives’ predictions were incorrect, unless she comes tonight!), and, incidentally, my 40-week doctor’s appointment. We’ll see what they say!
Rust and I also planned one last date night tomorrow night — a trip to a local [...]

Glee!

That is what I feel right now: glee! And giddiness. Last week, my sweet friend-photographer Beth took some photos of my very pregnant self at 38 weeks, and tonight she presented Rusty and me with a beautiful little photo album! I am thrilled with how the pictures turned out! She is quite, quite talented. Beth took our engagement [...]

Rust and I went to our appointment this morning…
Exciting news! Within the past two weeks, I have dilated from zero to three centimeters and effaced to 70-80%! Wow! That was certainly shocking! I honestly expected that I wouldn’t be dilated any and that Anna would take her sweet time getting here– that I would even possibly be overdue. (Though, [...]

36 weeks!

I am officially 36 weeks pregnant. This is significant because it means Anna’s due date is literally less than four weeks away! She is almost here! Everyday Rusty and I talk about how much we desire her to be here… though the planner in me balks at that. Not everything’s done… she can’t come! Not [...]
